INTRODUCTION

Many savings programs and attractive paybacks are available to companies that seek efficiency improvements in motor-driven systems, especially with pumps. Industrial pumping systems accounts for nearly 25% of industrial electricity energy demand. Pumps and pumping system offer a saving potential of 30-50%. Matching the pump to the system to enable best efficiency point operation is often ignored during the selection of pumps. The energy saving potential in pumps is hidden and can be unearthed only by a detailed study including measurement of flow and determination of operating efficiency. There is a need to educate practicing engineers to tune up the existing system to maximise energy savings.

With this in view, Dr.Ambedkar Institute of Productivity, National Productivity Council, Chennai is organising a two day training programme on “Energy Conservation in Pumps and Pumping System”. This two day training programme is focused on Energy Savings, Efficiency and Economics of pumps and pumping systems.
