Background
 
Most industries are seeking certification for various ISO standards like quality, environment and health and safety in line with global needs. Most industries certified with ISO 9001 aim for ISO 14001 certification followed by OHSAS 18001 certification after a gap of about two years. Also each certification process takes about a year. This process of pursuing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates separately requires industries to spend twice the cost and time on document preparation and internal audit (after implementation). This results in loss of valuable productivity for the industry.  
 
We, at NPC, feel that such wastages of manpower time and resources can be avoided by integrated implementation and auditing of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. NPC is already following the methodology of integrated implementation and auditing in few industries. We would like to share with you our experience in integrated implementation and auditing for enhancement of productivity as well as reduction of cost.   This programme is targeted to both types of industries; those implementing the standards concurrently and those, who have already implemented and interested in integrating the standards.
